Design Review Committee General Policy on Hurricane Preparation, Protection and Removal
Preparations for protection against hurricane conditions with temporary materials for windows and doors may begin when weather forecasters issue a Hurricane Watch for the Tampa Bay area, which is generally within 36 hours prior to expected hurricane conditions. Temporary protection must be removed no later than three days after the Hurricane Watch or Warning has been lifted.
Any temporary protection, as with any exterior change to a residence, must be submitted to the Design Review Committee for approval before installation. Generally, temporary protection may consist of plywood, metal, plastic or fabric. The temporary protection may be attached to the dwelling using anchors or tracks. Anchors or tracks which can remain on the dwelling permanently must be painted to match the current colors of the dwelling.
Large motorized roll-up shutters are not acceptable as they are detrimental to the general architectural appearance of dwellings.
Design Review Committee General Policy on Generators
All proposals for emergency generators in Cory Lake Isles are subject to review and approval by the Design Review Committee.
1) Generators and gas tanks must be sited within previously approved yard setbacks and will be evaluated in the same way as air conditioning units are evaluated. All standards as stated in Cory Lake Isles Deed Restrictions, Article X, paragraph 10.10 governing Air Conditioning and Heating Systems and 10.11 governing Ancillary Equipment, for gas tanks, shall apply to generators.
All air conditioner and heater systems, compressors or other equipment of a similar nature shall be screened by architectural structures or with shrubbery so as not to be visible from any street, road, other Lot, Lakes, ponds or other property. All air conditioner systems and compressors shall be placed to reasonably reduce noise from this source heard on adjacent Lots and Dwelling Units. Emergency generator gas tanks shall be placed beneath the surface of the ground.
2) Noise from generators may not exceed 75 decibels.
3) Generators are for emergency use only when electricity supplied by TECO or its successors is not available to the home at which the generator is installed.
